From jsimpson@stny.rr.com Sun May 16 01:47:56 1999 Date: Sun, 16 May 1999 01:35:56 -0400 (EDT) From: "Jeremy Impson (Not Simpson)" To: jsimpson@stny.rr.com Newsgroups: stny.roadrunner.linux Subject: MINUTES from the April 27, 1999 STNY LUG meeting I was sick the week after this meeting, and intense fevers may have warped my recollection of past events. I won't attempt to remember who was there. I was, and that's all that is important :) I spoke about "Where to get technical Linux information on the Internet". Attached is a copy of those notes. We also talked at great length about building a "club car", that is, a PC that we can have our evil way with and not worry about wiping out the disk and starting over. We are actively solicting hardware donations from members. Probably a mini-tower case would be most convenient. We'll take all kinds of peripherals--modems, network cards, SCSI controllers, tape controllers, etc. We're shooting for a Pentium chip, 486 minimum. Some more extravegant hardware (that runs Linux, natch') would be welcome. Anyone have an Amiga sitting around? Come to the next meeting (announcement soon) with a detailed, specific list of what parts you are willing to part with. --Jeremy -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeremy Impson Linux, Perl, and Network geek jsimpson@stny.rr.com http://source.syr.edu/~jdimpson [ Part 2, "Note from April 27, 1999 STNY LUG meeting" Text/PLAIN ] [ (Name: "stnylug-april-27-1999") 93 lines. ] [ Unable to print this part. ]
