Minutes of the July 24, 2001 meeting of the STNYLUG -- We had a very good turnout - some new faces and some 'regulars'. There was a discussion on the use of Linux in a 'Real Time' Environment. There was also a discussion on installing software both via the 'RPM' system and 'tarball' methods and touching on some of the other 'distros' methods of software installation. And as usual there was the 'required' MS bashing and other sundry war stories, all somehow, finally relating to Open Source Software, LINUX and other associated topics. There was a surprise refreshment of pizza (thanks Jon/Angie). Respectfully submitted, Your Host Attendance -- Steve Kimball Dave Bill Chip Angie Jon Andrew Steve Mike
